    Hidden Luxury Guest Suite Renovations

Tucked away in Tawharanui Peninsula, this reclusive yet beautiful home called upon BoxMakers for a wardrobe, mini pantry, and bathroom vanity. Crafted primarily for guest use, these renovations were made to add both function and cosmetic coherence. Being within a luxury home, BoxMakers took great care to not only uphold, but elevate its high-class standards.

    A Bold and Natural Kitchenette

The unique onyx theme stemmed from both the owner’s preference, as well as the surrounding textures. Most notable is the vertical fluting on the face panels, which was inspired by the suite’s woodwork. For this, BoxMakers used Dezignatek’s Prague series of Thermoform, finished in Black Bark. The deep, tactile ridges bring forth a unique modern design, especially when combined with its trapezoidal handles fromMardeco’s 3210 range. The Brushed Nickel finish adds a distinctive steely touch.

Above, the benchtop marks the return of UniQuartz’s Brown Forest finish, an ideal pairing for dark coloured cabinetry. Stealthily streaked with earthy veins, it effortlessly adds both character and nuance to this quaint kitchenette. The overhead cabinets operate on a handleless design and offer plenty of storage space while below, a mini bar is perfectly situated for a refreshing summer drink. Combined, it encourages visitors to feel like more than just a guest.

    Featureful Sliding Wardrobe

In the guest bedroom, BoxMakers installed a full-fledged wardrobe unit featuring a complete suite of drawers, shelves, and rods, as well as a full height mirror. Finished in Melteca’s Borders Oak Organic, this wardrobe fits perfectly with the bedroom’s fluted wall panel. We aimed to maximise smoothness and operability with Enko’s Anthracite-finished Slimbox drawer system. Even the wardrobe rails came in black, sourced from SD Aluminium.

    A Tough, yet Elegant Vanity

Also part of our renovation work was the bathroom vanity, which featured the same Dezignatek fluted panels and Mardeco handles. Unique to the bathroom was the carcass material, which sported a mixed core plywood substrate for improved strength and weight support. This kept the design language consistent while also being highly performant.

This renovation appears sleek and modern at a distance, but only upon closer inspection will you find the natural elements intertwined within; a hidden gem, much like the residence as a whole. Combined with sprawling views of Kawau Bay, every guest is sure get the full luxury experience.

A Reimagined Island Getaway — A Complete Custom Joinery Work

In a trip across the Hauraki Gulf, our BoxMakers team was called to renovate a beautifully situated residence on the southwestern tip of Waiheke Island. We were adamant on delivering a product that could not only compliment, but elevate the stunning views of the island’s flora. The project called for extensive cabinetry and joinery work across multiple rooms, including the fireplace, laundry, office, and more.

Our work in the living room featured a complex arrangement of stained American Oak panels and cabinetry, which sported concealable asymmetrical shelving and large sliding panels, which part to reveal space for a genuinely enormous television. Situated above a modern fireplace, extensive care was taken to ensure the longevity of both the woodwork and the items they housed.

For the office, BoxMakers delivered high quality, height-matching cabinets complete with finger pull-handles and soft-close drawers. Subtle LED accent lighting was applied to the overhead units, providing an elegant touch of light that accentuates the cabinetwork. Similar work was applied to the full-height entrance storage units, which featured a diverse range of joinery work, offering everything from shelves, to drawers, to sitting spots. The L-profile handles and warm white toe-kick LED lighting adds both convenience and accessibility while matching the home aesthetic.

The master ensuite also featured a wide range of cabinetry work, featuring floating drawers in black stained oak, tastefully contrasting the eggshell walls while preserving the natural yet modern tone of the home. The soft-close drawer systems minimise noise disruption when opening and closing, especially during times of peace and quiet. Also receiving an upgrade was the laundry room, which was renovated with premium birch plywood and a wide array of drawers and cabinets, eliminating any storage issues. The cabinetry was made to perfectly accommodate the two laundry units, serving as a prime example of space efficiency.

With splendid views overseeing Te Wharau Bay as well as vast stretches of the lush Waiheke greenery, BoxMakers elevated the residence with complementary natural colours and extensive functionality, making the home a luxurious getaway with plenty of room to grow.

Waiheke Bathroom Cabinetry – A Blend of Elegance and Luxury

On this Waiheke Island project, we were approached by a client who had a clear and luxurious design vision, but needed a skilled partner to bring it to life. With limited cabinetry suppliers available on the island, they came to us for our expertise and ability to deliver high-end results. While we were responsible for the cabinetry throughout the home, today we’re highlighting one standout feature: the bathroom cabinetry.

To enhance the space, we manufactured a combination of sleek wooden cabinetry and a striking brass-covered cabinet. The warm wood tones offer a natural, grounded feel, while the brass detailing adds a layer of sophistication and glamour—perfectly complementing the overall design intent.

This space is a testament to how thoughtful material choices and precision craftsmanship can transform even the smallest room into a design statement.
