Soft, Simple, and Sublime: Girls’ Vanity

As part of our multi-vanity renovation in Waiheke Island, BoxMakers chose a stunningly simple yet wholly elegant design for the girls’ vanity. Purpose-built with ease of operation and minimalism in mind, this unit is designed for sleek adaptability.

Smooth, pure, and chic, the benchtop is made from Caesarstone’s Organic White. This thin-profile, speckled mineral top is perfect for delivering a strong surface without the bulkiness of thicker benches. Within, it effortlessly accommodates the circular basin, chosen by the homeowner. Likewise, the faucet fixtures are in matching aged brass with the master vanity.

Below, the cabinetry features 16mm Prime MDF finished and edged with VidaSpace’s Desert Oak Veneer. Of note is the opening mechanism for the drawers, which carefully incorporates a 25mm finger-pull gap to allow for handleless operation, making the entire face fully uniform. The internals feature Häfele’s Alto soft-close system, which makes opening and closing smooth and silent – perfect even for nighttime.

We also included a cabinet-side power outlet, which means your electric toothbrush or hairdryer can operate comfortably within hand’s reach.

BoxMakers were also in charge of the mirror: a centre-open unit that reveals dual internal shelves, plus more power outlets. Kitted with Häfele’s soft-close hinges, mirror-side beauty lights, and an internal demister pad to chase away fog, it’s clearer than ever to wash, do makeup, or simply admire oneself. Opening and closing is handleless as well, with drop-down finger-pulls comfortably situated at the bottom.

This girls’ vanity is an excellent example of BoxMakers’ attention to use case. We design joinery that fits – not just physically and aesthetically, but practically. Whether it’s a featureful modern kitchen, practical man-cave bathroom, or a trendy minimalist vanity, we know the assignment and can tailor to your needs perfectly.

  • Custom Teaching Unit & Joinery in a Busy Māngere School

Custom Teaching Unit & Joinery in a Busy Māngere School

BoxMakers played a pivotal role in the transformation of the classrooms and toilets in Southern Cross Campus’s B Block. With a wealth of experience delivering quality joinery for schools, our expertise was indispensable to the welfare and usability of the new rooms.

For one of the newly reworked science rooms, BoxMakers installed a robust and versatile custom teaching unit, with materials carefully suited for long-lasting durability. It was a large cabinet with an integrated sliding whiteboard, featuring a wealth of concealable storage space. The whiteboard itself is a premium porcelain enamel piece by Polyvision, surrounded with Silver Pearl aluminium edges. Beneath the board surface, an accessory ledge is thoughtfully implemented to accommodate a range of teaching supplies, such as markers, erasers, and cloths. This slim cut benchtop uses Laminex’s Formica range, a high-pressure laminate that offers superior durability and performance.

Below the ledge is a wide array of cabinets, complete with locks to ensure secure storage. The cabinet carcass is made of 16mm MDF, while its aesthetics are supplemented with Classic Oak Naturale melamine from Laminex. This provides an organic appearance without the heft or maintenance of natural wood. The handles are Sylvan’s Norton series, in black. Their square bar profile is minimalist and to the point.

Our team also installed the hot water cylinder cupboard, which featured an MDF core with a white finish. We delivered this with Häfele hinges and built-in locks to ensure both security and ease of operation. A similar outfit was also performed for the data cabinet.

Our BoxMakers team was also crucial to the bathroom work, installing the toilet partitions. The cubicle walls were installed with Laminex’s Compact series, featuring calming wood patterns. Above, the headrail was an anodised silver aluminium. We also installed the locks, hinges, stoppers, and more. Stemming from our work, the bathrooms now feature durable, modern, and easy to use stalls.

This shows BoxMakers’ exceptional ability to install specification-adherent materials for specialised, high-use environments. It also demonstrates our versatility as not just kitchen professionals, but skilled installers of niche systems schoolwide and beyond.

  • Uncompromising Luxury in a Double Vanity

Uncompromising Luxury in a Double Vanity

As part of our unforgettable renovation for this luxury Waiheke home, BoxMakers played a pivotal role in the master ensuite, overseeing work on a spectacular double vanity. Serving the flagship bedroom, the client wished for a unit that could not only uphold but elevate the quality of the bathroom as a whole – something that BoxMakers wholeheartedly delivered.

Fully built with premium materials, this ensuite is one for the history books. Right beside luxury views across Waiheke Island, our vanity stands tall as a hallmark of excellence.

    A Premium Vanity

First and foremost, the body is made from a solid slab of Universal Granite’s Taj Mahal engineered stone. This ensured seamless, matching basins, and a perfect pairing with the aged brass faucet fixtures. With a crystalline, almost leathered appearance, in the tones of a stormy waterfall, this Taj Mahal finish is flowing with character.

Below, the broad cabinet drawers feature a finger-pull design with VidaSpace’s Desert Oak veneer. This intrinsically calming finish creates a perfect contrast with the benchtop. Of note is the handleless operation, which makes the face panels flush with the rest of the unit, and creates a seamless aesthetic that runs as gently as a calm stream. Likewise, opening is just as much a breeze, thanks to Häfele’s Alto soft-close system.

    Quality Dual Mirror-Cabinets

Above, the dual basins naturally call for dual mirrors. These twin mirror cabinets feature 5mm rectangular polished edges and a similarly handleless design, with a bottom finger-pull mechanism. Also installed was a 3mm aluminium frame to all four edges of each mirror, adding a distinct highlight. On either side, tube-style wall scones mount outside the mirrors, complementing each night with a dazzling warm glow akin to torchlight.

With a seamless benchtop and cabinetry pairing, this master ensuite vanity comes with every feature to complement its centrepiece. Paired with sweeping island views, it makes for a perfect place to unwind or freshen up.

  • A Stellar Dual-Function TV Cabinet & Guest Renovations

A Stellar Dual-Function TV Cabinet & Guest Renovations

The second act to our Tāwharanui Peninsula project, this luxury home saw a stellar TV unit, wardrobe, and bathroom vanity by BoxMakers. Coming in the same vein of dark yet graceful midnight-themed cabinetry, this mysterious living room unit offers more than what meets the eye…

Brooding silently at the end of a decadently spacious lounge, this cool and collected TV cabinet holds a few more secrets than it might seem. Clad in the armour of night, this bespoke unit effortlessly flaunts StyleLite’s Carbon series in TruMatte – a hypnotic black teeming with thick atmosphere. The thick outer panels emphasise its strong, silent nature while also limiting glare for the TV inside. Below, a subtle triplet of cubbies allow for convenient media storage.

The cabinet doors are composed of a modern arrangement of vertical slats. Plytech supplied their Maestro Latt series, a premium panel which we selected in Pepper Oak on Black – an airy timber reprieve with a contrasting dark underlay for definition and effect. The two-tiered rail allows the entire until to be concealed, but the real mystery isn’t the panels themselves – it’s what behind them…

Sliding over the door, the slats reveal a full kitchenette, complete with a sink, splashback, and mini-fridge. Needless to say, yes, it came in black. Featuring Silestone’s Night Tebas18, the benchtop is a captivating star-specked spacescape, whose details are only observable under close scrutiny.

Shifting through the deepness of space is the splashback, which features undulating tones of wavelike stone and a pattern evocative of a gas giant’s stormy shell. With the same black matte panels and glossy onyx handles, this mesmerising midnight enigma offers galactic levels of convenience and storage, especially with Häfele’s drawer systems. It even has a local ice giant (a mini fridge).

The guest bedroom also saw a blacked-out addition in the form of a wardrobe. With smooth sliding doors, accommodating cubbies, and ample hanger space, this wardrobe is perfect for handling guest storage. Enko was our choice for the drawers here as their Slimbox system was perfect for handling large capacities with smooth operation.

Elsewhere, the guest bathroom features a modern natural aesthetic. To deliver definition against its light wooden tones, BoxMakers installed a bathroom vanity of the same black scheme with a few key differences: the face panels reintroduced Dezignatek’s fluted design, while the basin resembled the hollowed-out half of a meteorite. Its raw, natural curves pair perfectly with the bathroom’s natural aesthetic, while the floating vanity adds a touch of modernity. With a smartly disguised kitchen and TV space, large wardrobes, and modern vanities, this project is out of this world. Featuring premium materials fit for its luxury location, this multi-faceted BoxMakers renovation delivered functional upgrades across the guest suite, thoroughly dripping with atmosphere. Also, they’re incredibly cool.

Waiheke Bathroom Cabinetry – A Blend of Elegance and Luxury

On this Waiheke Island project, we were approached by a client who had a clear and luxurious design vision, but needed a skilled partner to bring it to life. With limited cabinetry suppliers available on the island, they came to us for our expertise and ability to deliver high-end results.

While we were responsible for the cabinetry throughout the home, today we’re highlighting one standout feature: the bathroom cabinetry.

To enhance the space, we manufactured a combination of sleek wooden cabinetry and a striking brass-covered cabinet. The warm wood tones offer a natural, grounded feel, while the brass detailing adds a layer of sophistication and glamour—perfectly complementing the overall design intent.

This space is a testament to how thoughtful material choices and precision craftsmanship can transform even the smallest room into a design statement.
