As part of a new build in Orewa, BoxMakers pulled out all the stops to deliver this spectacular modern kitchen & scullery. The whole theme of this kitchen revolves around being bright & shiny, which we delivered in spades!
First and foremost, we partnered with Sage Doors for their Acrygloss finish. True to its name, it touts high-gloss acrylic to give an incredible sheen with mirrorlike qualities. It dazzles the room by reflecting the recessed lights, rangehood lights, and pendant light. These white panels also feature laser edging for a seamless, smooth, and high-quality transition.
The nature of the cabinets is also worth mentioning – being completely handleless for the main kitchen. To achieve this, we used finger-pull designs for the overheads, V-cut profiles for the base cabinets, and push-to-open mechanisms for the rest. Inside, they feature Häfele’s classic soft close mechanisms.
For the benchtop, 30mm White Ice Engineering Stone was a simple, yet perfect solution. Its speckled white adds just enough nuance to give character to the otherwise full-gloss kitchen. This extended to the island, where above sits an omnidirectional pendant light. Its long obround design is curiously reminiscent of sci-fi automobiles.
The island sink is from Omison, with a stainless steel, undermount design. We also installed a concealed pull-out bin by Fit NZ, from their Tanova line.
The scullery itself is concealed behind a quadruple set of doors that can easily be otherwise mistaken for further cabinetry. These doors can be arranged in a “saloon-style” entry, giving full sight into to the scullery with a low barrier door. Inside, it features loads more cabinetry, as well as bifold cabinet doors for broad access.
While this kitchen may appear loud and bright on the surface, it cleverly accommodates an incredible amount of storage and function, doubly so when you factor in the sneakily concealed scullery – almost like a secret room.
