Sturdy, Capable, and Advanced: Science Teaching Benches

Earlier this year, we delivered two highly capable, expertly-made teaching benches for Southern Cross Campus. Built to spec for science classrooms, these desks had particular requirements that covered science-specific purposes.

Cut and built from sheets of compact laminate over a steel frame, every part of this unit is made to be exceptionally sturdy, with complete imperviousness to all sorts of spills and hazards – perfect for a frenetic teaching environment. This allowed the teachers to comfortably perform demonstrations behind their desks, with all the tools to do so safely and securely.

Its features include laboratory taps – particularly sourced from a Spanish specialist, an integrated distribution board with four individual power shut-offs, and lockable cabinetry for sensitive storage. Respectively, this facilitates accessible hot-cold water delivery, individual emergency power shut-off, and somewhere to keep the test answer sheets (and perhaps the occasional bag of chocolate fish).

We partnered with Total Fabrication & Welding for the powder coated steel bench frames. In our workshop, we cut, shaped, and installed the compact laminate panels carefully to spec. The hinges were happily sourced from our close friend Häfele, ensuring smooth operation for countless lessons to come.

At BoxMakers, we are proud to have delivered these premium benches that effortlessly serves all its purposes. Finished with a pale woodgrain appearance, they seamlessly integrate into the science classes with grace and capability.
